Readmission Information

Undergraduate students planning to return after an absence of 12-month period or more must apply for readmission using the online application in order to resume studies at UM-Dearborn. Such a readmitted student is then governed by the current Catalog. Readmitted students are subject to the requirements in effect at the time of readmission.

Some academic units at UM-Dearborn may have more stringent regulations. It is the obligation of students who leave the University for an extended period of time to acquaint themselves with the specific requirements.

Since all I and marks are permanently changed to IE and XE after four months, a readmit may not petition to make up I's or X's on his/her prior record.

Readmitting students who have attended other colleges or universities since leaving the University of Michigan-Dearborn will be required to submit official transcripts from all institutions attended. Courses taken at other campuses will not count automatically toward graduation. A student’s academic performance since their departure from UM-Dearborn will be taken into consideration when an applicant is considered for readmission.

Students who attended UM-Dearborn and have since received a Bachelor's Degree will be Second Degree students and must apply as transfer students and meet the admissions standards of their academic program. Credits taken prior at UM-Dearborn will be included in the calculation of the admissions grade point average.
