MTHY 100     Creating Music: Theory, Tools and Practice     4 Credit Hours

Discover the art and science of music while unleashing your creative potential in MTHY 100. This course not only delves into the core principles of music theory but also immerses you in practical music creation using cutting-edge digital audio workstations. Whether you're a film enthusiast, aspiring engineer, or simply passionate about music, this course invites you to explore music's expressive power through hands-on experiences. (W).

MTHY 300     Music Production: Harmony and Creation in Logic Professional     4 Credit Hours

This course explores how musical theory and technology intersect to create compelling, emotionally resonant productions. Students will study core harmonic principles (triads, seventh chords, secondary dominants, and modal mixture) and apply these ideas within Logic Pro to produce, mix, and master original music. Through a sequence of hands-on projects and guided lessons, students will learn to construct full tracks from initial chord progressions to polished mixes. (W).

MTHY 390     Topics in Music Theory     4 Credit Hours

Examination of problems and issues in selected areas of music history. Title as listed in Schedule of Classes will change according to content. Course may be repeated for credit when specified topics differ. (OC).

MTHY 399     Independent Study Music Theory     1 to 4 Credit Hours

Readings, analytical assignments and/or compositions in music selected in accordance with the needs and interests of those enrolled and agreed upon by the instructor and the student.
